Halibut Derby
The Valdez Halibut Derby features a $10,000 cash Grand Prize for the largest halibut, $3,000 cash for 2nd place and $1,500 for 3rd place. In addition, the Valdez Halibut Derby features 1st and 2nd place weekly prizes.
The 2024 Halibut Derby runs from May 25 to September 1.
Silver Salmon Derby
The Valdez Silver Salmon Derby features a $10,000 cash Grand Prize for the largest Silver, $3,000 cash for 2nd place and $1,500 for 3rd place. The derby also features 1st and 2nd place daily prizes.
The 2024 Silver Salmon Derby runs July 20 through September 1, with Big Prize Fridays on July 26 and August 30, 2024.

Kids Pink Salmon Derby Day
Pink salmon are a great introduction to fishing for kids because the pinks are plentiful, easily accessible and a lot of fun to catch. This event is part of the annual Valdez Fish Derbies. Kids win great prizes and the family friendly barbecue tops off the fun day. Bring the family, and watch your kids get hooked on fishing in Valdez, Alaska!
Kids ages 5-16 can participate in the Kid’s Pink Salmon Fishing Derby for free. The Kids Fishing Derby takes place in July. There is a free BBQ and kids can win prizes and take part in fun games.
The 2024 Kids Pink Salmon Derby Day will be held on July 20, 2024.
Women's Silver Salmon Derby
This annual event draws more than 500 women anglers to Valdez. Join the Silver Salmon Sisterhood and win great prizes. Open to women only.
