Alaska Kite Festival

Held in Thompson Pass every April, speed-gliding and paragliding athletes from around the world demonstrate acrobatic skills and compete for prizes in the Alaska Kite Festival. The festival also features snowkite instructional clinics for beginners.

2023 Event

The annual Thompson Snowkite festival is back again! The annual snowkite, paragliding and speedriding gathering is happening April 1-9. The 2023 events are being held at Odyssey Lake at Mile 27 of the Richardson Highway. In addition to races and competitions, the festival is also offering a bonfire, party and raffle this year.

Clinic Schedule

The Annual Men's and Women's snowkite clinic will happen at 12 pm on Saturday 4/1 and 12 pm on Saturday 4/8. No experience is necessary. Skis or snowboard equipment and a helmet are recommended.
