Chugach Mountain Institute

Based in the central Chugach Mountains near Valdez and Thompson Pass, the Chugach Mountain Institute provides guided mountain adventures, skills instruction, and outdoor education throughout Alaska: backcountry skiing, snowboarding (splitboarding), ski mountaineering, backpacking, climbing (rock, ice, alpine, mountaineering, peakbagging, scrambling), avalanche education (American Avalanche Association recognized provider for Rescue, Rec Level 1, & Rec Level 2), and other backcountry and mountain skills instruction courses. Day, multi-day, and expedition style trips and courses available.
