Northwestern Crows

Northwestern crows (Corvus caurinus) are common in Valdez. These crows eat dead fish, invertebrates and berries such as salmonberries, elderberries. They are in the Family Corvidae, making them relatives to other corvids in Valdez, such as magpies

Viewing Locations

Crows are common around Valdez, year-round. The may be seen throughout the Valdez townsite and out on the Valdez Duck Flats. Murders of crows frequent areas like the Meyring Park park-strip in the middle of town, or the boardwalk area along North Harbor Drive where they may try to steal french-fries for folks eating at our local restaurants!
