Fishing & Hunting Licenses

"An Alaska sport fishing license is required for all resident anglers 18 and older and nonresident anglers 16 and older to fish in all fresh and salt waters of Alaska," Alaska Department of Fish & Game

Fishing Licenses can be purchased online from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game or purchased in Valdez at our many outfitting stores.  

How Much Do They Cost?

There are many different types of fishing and hunting licenses that may be purchased in Alaska, and the prices vary. The full list of prices for fishing and hunting licenses may be found online here. Here is a list of some of the more common fishing licenses: 

Alaska Residents

  • Annual sport fishing license: $29
  • ADF&G Permanent Senior ID Card (60 or older): Free
  • ADF&G Disabled Veteran Card: Free
  • Sport Fishing License for the Blind: $0.50
  • Resident Low Income: $5

Non-Residents

  • 1-day sport fishing license: $25
  • 3-day sport fishing license: $45
  • 7-day sport fishing license: $70
  • 14-day sport fishing license: $105
  • Annual sport fishing license: $145
  • Non-resident annual military sport fishing license: $29

King Salmon Stamps

  • Resident kin salmon stamp: $10
  • Non-resident 1-day stamp: $15
  • Non-resident annual stamp: $100
  • Non-resident military annual stamp: $30
