Shooting Stars

Shooting Star wildflowers (Dodecatheon species) are found in Alaska. Species include the Western Arctic Shooting Star (Dodecatheon frigidum), the Pretty Shooting Star (Dodecatheon pulchellum), and the Tall Mountain Shooting Star (Dodecatheon jeffreyi). 

Shooting Stars are common in damp areas, such as wetlands or along riverbanks. Look for them in Valdez at the Duck Flats or along Mineral Creek.
