Overview
Our property in McCarthy is a daring journey into the big unknown of America’s largest national park. The Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is a spectacular environment with vast mountainous terrain dominated by glaciers and riven with furious meltwater. Just like Valdez, McCarthy is also an end-of-the-road town. The fabled bush town exists deep inside the stunning national park, with the property surrounded by land owned by the National Park Service. The Klondike Gold Rush of 1898 drew prospectors deep into the Wrangell-St.Elias region. But it would be copper, not gold, that panned out. The deposit of copper was so immense that it was declared a "bonanza"! The construction of the Bonanza Mine created the nearby town of Kennecott - home to a historic 14-story copper mill. The Geeks in McCarthy property is located 1.5 miles up the Bonanza trail. The property has spectacular views overlooking Root Glacier and Kennicott Glacier. The immense glacier-carved valley leads to towering Mount Blackburn, the principal source of ice for the Kennicott Glacier which flows southeast over 20 miles to just above the town of McCarthy. We do not have any official development plans for this property. We plan on enjoying its raw environment with geeks that want to work extremely remote and connected. While the Valdez property is available for use year-round, this property outside of McCarthy is only available for use from April to October due to inaccessibility and limited amenities.
