True Stories of Chairs

Not your typical furniture show! As shown by chairs from the Valdez Museum collection and loaned by members of the community, this exhibit tells stories of life in Valdez through the years, as told by those who sat there. Using a lighthearted presentation style, chairs are pared with photographs and text that provide biographical sketches and historical context. Thus, visitors will come to learn about residents and historical themes from Valdez history, and appreciate how an object may be used to tell a story. The exhibit also illustrates developments in furniture design and the identification of furniture by decoration, materials, composition and form.
