Salmonberry Ski Hill

Visit Salmonberry Ski Hill, located at Mile 5.5 on the Richardson Highway! This slope is great for families and beginners a rope tow and low angle groomed terrain. A warming hut is available to relax or enjoy lunch.

A brand new, speed-controlled tow rope with handles makes for a quality experience for beginners in Valdez opening new doors for skiers, snowboarders, sledders, tubers, and little ones wanting to play in the snow. After a 20 year hiatus, the Salmonberry Ski Hill will be opening this 2011-2012 winter season with a 1000’ surface tow rope and multiple trails. Open to the public, and operated by the City of Valdez Parks and Recreation Department, with plenty of parking, warming huts and restrooms complete the days comforts making it a fun adventure for the whole family. Perfect for learning how to ski for the first time, or simply getting some runs in on down days, the Salmonberry Ski Hill is a must see for skiers of all abilities!
