Civic Center Hill

Located near the Valdez waterfront, and only a few minutes walk from our downtown area, Civic Center Hill offers shorter hiking trails and picturesque views of the town, the bay, and the Chugach Mountains.

Overlook Trail

This tail is near South Hazelet Avenue and Clifton Court, next to the Valdez Civic Center, and offers the best 360-degree view of the town and the bay. Overlook Trail is a shorter hike, with only 133 steps to the top of the hill. Picnic tables are available under the pavilion at the top of the hill to relax and enjoy the view! A geo-cache is hidden on this trail.

Ruth Pond Park

Ruth Pond Park is along South Hazelet Avenue and Fidalgo Drive, just below the Valdez Civic Center. This small park is perfect for relaxing by the pond and is great for children and pets. Picnic tables are available to rest or enjoy a snack. Bathrooms are available in a comfort station just east of the Park.
