The Valdez Museum Presents Alaska's Suffrage Star: Starting March 12

March is Women's History Month, and a new exhibit is being featured at the Valdez Museum on Egan Drive. The exhibits opens March 12, and is on display until May 23. 

The Museum writes that "Alaska’s Suffrage Star Shines at the Valdez Museum, March 12 – May 23, 2021: This traveling exhibit shares the history of women’s suffrage in Alaska, explaining how local and national activism helped Alaska women citizens achieve the vote in 1913. The Alaska State Museum produced this exhibit to commemorate the centennial of the 19th Amendment."

General admission to the Museum is currently $5.00 (13 and under are free), and includes access to all of the exhibits at the Museum on Egan Drive. 

Mayor's Cup Snowmachine Race: March 20

"It ain't for babies": the Mayor's Cup annual cross country snowmachine race in Valdez is a 150-mile trek set on a 25 mile loop around Hogsback Glacier and the Valdez Glacier Flats. The race is back this year with $20,000 in the purse. The 2021 Mayor's Cup is scheduled for Saturday March 20.
