Valdez isn't regarded as a rock climbing destination as it is for ice climbing; however, there are bouldering and rock climbing areas in and around Valdez.
In town locations include Dock Point Park, the Glacier Campground, and the Valdez Glacier rock quarry. Thompson Pass areas include, 19 Mile Wall, Blueberry Lake, 27 Mile Wall, and Worthington Glacier. Further down the Richardson Highway are 47 Mile and the Tsaina River Gorge.
