The Annual May Day Fly-In & Air Show in Valdez, Alaska has quickly become the aviation event of the year. The 2007 Fly-In drew more pilots, vendors and spectators than ever before. The pilot competitions really got the crowd going with the spectacular STOL (Short Landing/Short Take Off) and Flour Bombing. Adding to the excitement was Unusual Attitudes’ daring stunt shows, a US Coast Guard Helicopter simulated rescue and a team of skydivers.
The Fly-In is currently the largest bush pilot competition in North America with over 166 aircraft attending. An estimated 500 travelers witnessed the 3 day event, helping to stimulate our town’s economy. The Valdez Fly-In & Air Show not only provides an opportunity to promote economic development and tourism in Valdez, it also demonstrates the importance of aviation in Alaska. The 5th Annual May Day Fly-In & Air Show will feature all of our classic venues with expectations of exceeding last year’s record breaking 19 foot Take!
The Valdez Fly-In Association values and appreciates the support received by all of our generous sponsors, contributors and volunteers of 2007. With over thirty committee and volunteer members, this event is an excellent example of teamwork within the Alaskan workforce and aviation community. It would be a great opportunity and benefit to have your support in 2008.
Currently, the Valdez Fly-In Association is soliciting sponsorship for the 5th Annual May Day Fly-In to be held May 9-11, 2008. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Randy Maag
